Meet Yolanda Muckle

Camera in hand, Yolanda Muckle moves quickly and quietly behind her daughters, Michele and Madison. The girls are seated close together on the sofa, and young Michele is paging through a book, pointing at the pictures and explaining them to her little sister. A thin shaft of sunlight extending from a nearby window illuminates the two—it’s a beautiful scene, and Yolanda is fully focused on it. Natural Connections

Yolanda has been taking pictures ever since she received her first camera in grade school. She’s had several cameras over the years and photographed a wide range of subjects, landscapes and nature scenes among them. But it’s very telling that her favorite subject is people—especially family members. Herself a member of a large and loving extended family, Yolanda considers the bonds and connections fostered in families to be the most crucial—they’re the foundation for each person’s relationships throughout their life.

Strong Values

Yolanda was born and raised in Baltimore. Although she was her parents’ only child, she grew up far from alone, surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. “I am who I am today because of my strong upbringing and the values instilled by my family,” she says. Among these were a love for reading and learning that earned Yolanda a scholarship to Hampton University in Virginia, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media. Yolanda then embarked on a long and successful tenure in the broadcasting industry, managing commercial sales and major agency accounts for network affiliates.

Capturing Special Bonds

But no matter how busy she is in her professional life, Yolanda always makes time for both her immediate and extended family. She and her husband, Craig, love spending time together with their children, whether it’s a trip to the playground at Allen Pond Park or a visit to the local bowling alley. Although some relatives are spread out around the country, get-togethers with extended family are frequent throughout the year, and at most of them you can find Yolanda with her camera, capturing the many precious hours spent with loved ones.
